Open a PDF
Launch Word, click the 'File' tab on the ribbon menu and select 'New.' Browse to the PDF to edit. Note that in previous versions of Word before Word 2013, the software would not 'find' or open PDFs. Double-click the PDF to edit.
Edit the Document
Click the cursor onto the document, just as if you were working on a standard Word document page filled with text, lines, images or other items. Make changes, such as correcting a misspelled word or substituting a person's name.
Save the File
Click the 'File' tab on the ribbon menu and select 'Save As.' Choose 'PDF' from the 'Save as type' menu. You also have the option to save the edited file as a Word document file. Click the 'Save' button.
Microsoft cautions that inserting the PDF into Word and then editing it may leave the PDF looking slightly different than the original. Plan at least a few moments of review time to ensure that everything in the document transferred in correctly and adjust any alignment, text, boxes or images that were part of the PDF as required.
If you know the PDF was originally created from a Word document, it may be easier to obtain the original file and edit that in Word.
